We had a customer who suggested a cordura-leather EDC pouch for himself. At Garrison Packs, nothing excites us better than some out of the box ideas and suggestions…especially from customers and users. It took us a bit of time to track down leather suppliers here in Malaysia but eventually we manage to score some good bits. We choose the softer leather and our master sewer Ben spent a few good nights trying them out. Well, all his hard work is definitely worth a shout.

The cordura-leather combination gives a more subtle yet classic look to our products. While cordura fabrics retains its super tough characteristics, the leather touch kinda gives it that tone-down look. To quote a customer…”you guys just made mil-spec evergreen“.

While we are happy with the progress of our cordura-leather EDC pouch so far, we will likely take more time to refine designs, test capabilities and identify areas that may need fine tuning. Our main concern at the moment is a constant and reliable supply of quality leather for our workshop. The machines at our workshop has no issues coping with the thicker leather and we expect the new machines we have ordered will make work even easier.

We have posted some of these pictures on our Garrison Packs Facebook page and has garnered quite a big interest. At this stage, our cordura-leather pouches will only be available at OGM store in Shah Alam. Once we have sorted out issues on material supplies, we hope to extend out more designs and offer them at several other retail locations. And of course, we will be accepting custom, ‘made to your sketch’ versions of cordura-leather EDC pouches or bags in good time.

The past few months have been very exciting for us. We have been working with customers on custom designed, cut and proudly Malaysian made EDC wallets and pouches. This is an area we have been focusing for a while… providing customized solutions to individual as well as industrial application EDC wallets and pouches. Our customers come up with the design they like and we make it to suit their needs. Here are a few examples.

EDC wallets and pouches are gaining popularity in Malaysia. Rather than carrying your important daily items separately in pockets and bags, a wallet and pouch can have everything organized in a singe unit. The challenge with readily available EDC wallets and pouches is that they limit your options in terms of size, color and more importantly the organizational capability.

We are also making custom made pouches for companies. Nestle Malaysia approached us to replicate (with material enhancements) pouches for their electronic device. The pouches will be used by their product representatives on a daily basis, 7 days a week. An industrial application well suited for super tough military spec fabrics and components we use on almost all of our products.

Getting a custom made EDC wallet or pouch made up at Garrison Packs is as easy as getting a sketch done up. Rather than being limited to a set design with only a change of fabric color, we are happy to receive your sketch and work from there. Over 200 units to be completed for our customer

We have been very busy during that last few weeks on a large order for custom made pouch. The pouch is to keep secure a tool for the automotive industry and we committed to deliver over 200 units of them in a short period of time. It has taken up most of our time and resources considering the size and amount of detail required by the customer. Everything when smooth until we realize we did not have enough cordura material!

Our order for additional cordura material from the USA was rushed in for this project. By the time it arrived, we had to put aside all other jobs to finish it. Thankfully, we have our new machines (in some months back) and all hands were on deck to work on this job. The workshop became our sleeping room for a few nights!

We were very relieved that we manage to complete and deliver this special made pouch to our customer on time. We had a close call with the cordura fabric but thankfully everything worked out smooth. With this pouches packed and shipped, we will be taking a well deserved (short) break before getting back to our list of pending jobs. A good week nevertheless!

Milspec material all around

Here is another custom made set of pouches for a folding saw and a army canteen bottle we completed. Work has slowed down a bit and we thought we would share some pictures of this project. One of the rare opportunities where we get to slow down, take the camera out and take some pictures. 1000 denier black Cordura in matching milspec components and molle compatible.

Our customer wanted the pouch for the water canteen to fit the bottle and the stainless steel mug. The design is very similar to the US Army issue ones but with some minor modifications. It is possible to get the US Army ones for cheap but rarely (or perhaps never) in black.

We decided to have the buckle of the folding saw pouch slide underneath a molle webbing to keep the buckle safe from accidental un-clip. It sits snugly under the webbing without hindering a one hand operation. These are some simple features that we discover along the way. Any small changes that helps make a product better can go a long way.

Tough milspec material used on this custom made pouches means they are going to last the owner a good many adventures and possibly good to pass on to the grandchildren. At Garrison Packs, we think our gear through and we build them tough for you.

EDC pouches are by far the most popular item we have made at Garrison Packs

Customized EDC pouches like this phone & battery project we did early this year is probably one of our most popular products by far. Because phones and battery packs comes in different shape and sizes, customers wants pouches that are built to suit. Customers get to choose from the different materials and colors available at Garrison Packs and we then incorporate them and the features they like into the end product.

This particular project incorporates a main compartment for the phone and another for the battery pack. For those who are always on the go and need to stay connected, the battery pack is a life saver. Incorporating a pocket for the battery pack makes a lot of sense.

Velcro panel allows you to identify yourself

The Velcro closure on the back and front makes it easier to handle and adds a bit more security to the pouch. The front panel velcro patch is great for personalizing your pouch. Be it your name, a funky pouch or even a flag, it helps to identify the person carrying the pouch. Click here for another example of EDC pouches with Velcro panels on them.

The tongue like pull tabs make retrieval of contents easier.

The ‘tongue’ like tab inside the pouch are made for ease of retrieving the contents of the pouch. While this customer wants the pouch primarily for his phones, it can also take it other things like some cash, cards and of course wire for use with the battery pack. Simply pull on the tab and the bottom of the tab will slide out the contents. This will eliminate any need to try to dig into the pouch with your fingers.

White button tabs makes it easier to locate when they are stuck between your body and the belt

We made the belt slot at the back of the pouch slightly wider with snap buttons and Velcro to give it more adaptability. It can fit a wider range width of belt for the owner. We chose the white button tabs so that they are easier to locate visually.

Side molle straps are great!

No pouches made at Garrison Packs can really get away without molle straps. While the pouch may be small, we still reckon the straps at the side will make it a cool looking pouch…plus it can be a handy pen holder or even an attachment point for lanyards or sort.
